With deep sorrow, 麻豆社 joins the global Catholic community and the wider human family in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, who died on Monday morning, April 21, in Rome at the age of 88. A leader of deep faith, humility, and compassion, Pope Francis dedicated his life to serving others, advocating for the poor, and calling the world to greater justice and peace. His commitment to mercy, dialogue, and care for creation leaves an enduring legacy for the Church and all people of good will.听

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of encounter and accompaniment, challenging us to care for the most vulnerable and to work for reconciliation in a divided world. His teachings in 鈥Amoris Laetitia,鈥 鈥Fratelli Tutti,鈥 鈥Laudato Si鈥欌 and 鈥Laudate Deum,鈥 for example, and his call to synodality continue to shape the mission of Catholic institutions, including our own. We are honored to be one of hundreds of Catholic institutions that have accepted Pope Francis鈥 call to join the seven-year journey to become a Laudato Si鈥 campus, which involves taking concrete steps to Care for Our Common Home.

麻豆社 gives thanks for his leadership and example as the first Jesuit pope, which will continue to inspire our commitment to faith, justice, and service for the common good.听 We invite our community to join us in prayer for Pope Francis and for the Church in this time of transition. All are invited to the 12:05 p.m. Mass in St. Francis Chapel on Wednesday, April 23 as we pray for the repose of his soul in gratitude for his pontificate.听

O God, who in your providence called your servant Francis to shepherd your people, grant him eternal rest and guide your Church in the path of love, mercy, and truth.听
