Graduate and Certificate Programs

In addition to your online application, you will need to submit:

  • Official transcripts from each school attended
  • Supporting materials, such as a resume or statement of purpose (varies by program)  
  • $50 application fee

All transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution to 麻豆社. Electronic transcripts can be sent via secure delivery systems to gsapp@jcu.edu

Global Admission Steps

At John Carroll, we welcome students from around the world. In addition to the application and supporting materials, international applicants must complete a few additional steps.

International students applying directly to 麻豆社 must have all foreign transcripts evaluated by a third-party service approved by the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). The evaluation must include a general assessment and calculate a cumulative grade point average (GPA) for all international transcripts.

We recommend using (formerly SpanTran), which offers a customized application for JCU applicants at a discounted rate of $170. 

We also accept transcript evaluations from the following agencies:

Students whose native language is not English must demonstrate the necessary level of proficiency in the English language by taking the or the . A student from abroad whose native language is English, who has completed his or her work at a foreign university where English is the language of instruction, or who has graduated from an American institution, is exempt from this testing requirement—please contact us to have the requirement waived.

, individuals seeking student visas are not eligible to complete post-baccalaureate programs or 100% fully online degree programs, and depending on the visa type, may only be eligible for one online or distance learning course each term. Further, we are not authorized to offer online programs outside of the United States. Please check with the Graduate School if you have questions about international student enrollment.

Readmission

If you choose to take one semester or more from JCU and do not request an official Leave of Absence prior to your break in attendance, you must apply for readmission.

If you are continuing in the same program, in many cases, this form will reactivate your student status to “current” if an Official Leave of Absence Form was not submitted or has expired.

If you are applying to a new program at JCU, you should submit a instead of the readmission application.

Additional Documentation

If you have attended another institution since attending JCU or have not attended the University for an extended period of time, you may be asked to submit additional documentation, such as transcripts, recommendations, or participate in an admission interview.
