Payment Plan
Families have the option to enroll their balance in a five-month-long payment plan per semester. This helps reduce the burden of paying upfront and helps you avoid unnecessary borrowing.
Payment plans are semester-based and require new enrollment each fall and spring. Each plan has a $25 enrollment fee per semester, with an additional $25 late fee if the fee is not paid within the first two months of the semester. This fee is non-refundable. Families with multiple students must enroll in separate plans for each student.
Payments are due on the fifth of each month. The plan is paid out over five monthly installments each semester — August through December in the fall, and January through May in the spring. Monthly amounts are automatically calculated based on your account balance and financial aid, with final payments due December 5 (fall) and May 5 (spring).

Billing Policy
If you have not signed up for the Payment Plan by the first day of the term or if your balances are not paid in full, you will be subject to late fees and holds.
Late fee schedule for balances over $100:
- $75 first month
- $150 second month
- $225 third month
For summer term balances over $100, a $50 late fee is assessed in late July.
Registration holds are placed on accounts with balances after the first week of classes, preventing registration for the following semester, access to transcripts, final grades, and registration changes. Contact Student Service Counselors at enrollment@jcu.edu or 216.397.4248 with questions.
麻豆社 does not accept overpayments on student accounts. Please transfer only the amount due on your student account to avoid payment delays.
Tuition Insurance
Here at John Carroll, we understand that the unforeseeable can happen, and you may need to withdraw from the university due to illness, injury, or personal situations. We know that higher education is a major investment, and we want to provide your family with more peace of mind, helping protect your education investment if the unexpected happens.
This is why we have partnered with The GradGuard™ Tuition Protection Plan from Allianz Global Assistance to offer students and families the option to purchase tuition insurance.
Tuition insurance can be purchased as a voluntary student benefit to complement the JCU Refund Policy found on the Consumer Information page. Tuition insurance can cover up to 100% of costs related to tuition, fees, room, and board. It provides insurance benefits for losses incurred if you are forced to withdraw partway through the semester due to:
- Serious covered illness or injury
- Covered mental health disorder
- Covered death of a tuition payer
When to Enroll
Families can enroll up to the last day of the add/drop period each term. Coverage begins on the first day of classes and extends to the end of the exam period. Tuition insurance can cover up to the cost of attendance based on education level.
To get a quote, learn more, and view terms and conditions, visit the or call 1.888.427.5045.
Refunds
Student accounts with credit balances are reviewed each week for refunding purposes beginning the first week of the semester. Refund resulting from a check payment will be released after three (3) weeks. Students should review their Title IV permissions in Student Profile. These permissions instruct the University to either hold or refund the excess funds on their student account.
Perkins Repayment
As of September 2017, the Federal Perkins Loan Program has expired. No new Perkins Loans can be awarded to students beyond the 2017-2018 academic year. Students will receive information about repayment of Perkins Loans at the time they graduate or are no longer enrolled at least half-time.
The Federal Perkins Loan is a low-interest rate loan made to qualifying 麻豆社 students. John Carroll is the holder of your loan. The interest rate is 5 percent and the repayment term is 10 years.
You must begin to repay your loan once you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment status. You are allowed a grace period before beginning repayment. If your loan is newly activated (entering the repayment cycle), you have nine months before interest begins to accrue on your loan and 12 months before your first payment is due. If you return to school, your loan will go back into a deferred status until you leave that institution.
Deferments and cancellations must have the original signatures of the certifying official and, in most cases, the institution’s seal or stamp. More information and appropriate forms can be found at
