Broaden your scientific knowledge with a minor in physics.

Studying the physical world gives you a greater understanding of how things work, from the devices we use every day to major medical breakthroughs.

John Carroll’s physics minor is a great complement to other STEM fields, such as chemistry and computer science. The coursework involved is also excellent preparation for medical school, health professions graduate programs, and other advanced studies.

Hands-on Learning

Studying physics is hands-on by nature. You’ll experiment and discover in modern lab facilities through courses like Physics Workshop.

Student Involvement

Join the JCU chapter of the Society of Physics Students. You’ll go star gazing, take field trips to places like NASA, and more.

Program Overview & Outcomes

As a physics minor at JCU, you’ll learn in small classes led by brilliant faculty — and have access to plenty of hands-on experiences. By the end of the program you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the core principles and concepts of physics at an introductory level
  • Apply mathematical, analytical, computational, and experimental skills to model the behavior of physical systems and solve a wide range of physics problems
  • Design and conduct experiments to measure and interpret physical phenomena
