We also prepare you for an incredible range of career paths. Our multifaceted psychology program offers five distinct concentrations, giving you an opportunity to gain specialized skills and knowledge in areas such as:

Undergraduate Research
Work with a faculty mentor as you build essential analytical, research, and writing skills. Present your work on campus at DISCOVER day, or at the Ohio Psychology Undergraduate Research Consortium, or even national venues such as the Midwestern Psychological Association’s annual conference.

Program Overview & Outcomes
Psychology careers span industries, from counseling and human resources to marketing and medicine. At JCU, you can customize your course of study to match your professional and academic interests; this could include combining a concentration with a minor and/or a second major.
Wherever your pathway takes you, as a psychology major at JCU, you will develop:
- A fundamental knowledge base in the core areas of psychology
- Expertise in methods of gathering, organizing, and analyzing information in the context of psychology
- A mastery of the experimental methods and statistical analysis as practiced by psychologists

Curriculum: What You Will Learn
You’ll begin with introductory courses in psychology, statistics, and experimental design and analysis. The rest of your coursework will include any concentration requirements or the general psychology classes and electives of your choice. You’ll explore themes like, psychopathology, human development, and psychobiology with opportunities to take courses in specialized areas such as eating disorders, sports psychology, and autism, for example.
